Imagine HR departments that are built around sincere staff development, fighting for serious improvements and digital automation (on-line application forms, for example), digging deep into individualized motivation, and 1-on-1, curated staff mentoring. Unfortunately, however, HR often gets stuck searching for Introduction Day snacks, hula hoops for fun & games, balloons for "ice-breaking," scrambling for training rooms, gathering employee birthdates, and organizing staff surveys on how well their workplace culture feels about management. But let’s start slowly. Let’s first work on the CV. A young bartender came in the other for an interview, but complained that his back was hurting. I asked him why?
